For Nonprofit Referral Organizations in the NPOFS program - here's how to get started with SEO/Online Marketing
NPOFS Online Raffle Referral Organization Online Marketing Guidelines
Following are general guidelines that KME Internet Marketing suggests, to help promote sales of Paws4People charity raffle tickets - using your Referral Organization's existing website and online presence. KME Internet Marketing is available for additional questions, and actual programming, search engine optimization or other online marketing activities to fully implement these guidelines. By approaching promotion of the raffles in this way, your RO, Paws4People and other consortium charities ALL will see improvement in online visibility and fundraising success.
- Basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - if your RO is not very visible on the Web or through search engines, then its affiliation and promotion of raffle ticket sales also isn't. Very basic SEO steps should be taken as necessary including:
- Updating the website "Metatags"
- Making sure there's enough text on the core website pages describing the RO services and capabilities, using keywords people might search for
- Using the "Internet Checklist" at http://www.kmeinternetmarketing.com/internetchecklist.html
- Links to the charityraffles.org and paws4people.org sites - your RO website should include at least one hyperlink to your appropriate charityraffles.org subdomain, as well as some description of the program and benefits to the RO. The description should also contain a link to http://www.paws4people.org. The actual hyperlinks should be done with good "anchor text" - i.e. the hyperlink should be from a phrase like "RO online charity raffle" - vs. simply from the website address itself. These hyperlinks and descriptions should be from as prominent an area of the website as possible, on a website page that has as high a "Google Page Rank" as possible (KME can help determine the optimum pages to use).
- Images/Logo - Use of a charityraffles.org logo or icon is encouraged, following the guidance above in #2 regarding placement - so long as the image is accompanied by some descriptive text, and the image includes alt/title tags that are equally descriptive. If you'd like to use an image or logo, and existing ones available at http://www.charityraffles.org/banners/ don't meet your website design criteria, KME can help create ones that do.
- Social Media, Press Releases and Other Digital Content - if your RO organization creates and distributes other online digital content, for example via blogs, news articles, emails etc., references and hyperlinks to the RO's support for its online raffle fundraising method are encouraged - created in the same manner as indicated in #2, above. If the RO does not produce other forms of digital media, KME can advise as to the more appropriate methods that help the organization altogether. KME can also take digital content you might already have, and distribute it ourselves in a very optimized fashion around the Internet - this includes creating an online press release about your new fundraising method!. Additionally, if you use "Social Media Tagging" tools like Delicious or Digg, feel free to tag and support material you find about this program on the Internet!
